After high school, I earned a scholarship to Indiana State University to play NCAA football. Being a student athlete I learned how to bring my athleticism to its highest levels while managing my duties as a student. Although my primary focus was football I would still work out because I wanted to be bigger and stronger than anyone else. At 175lbs told everyone I would be a bodybuilder and would compete one day. In just 6 months I competed in my first contest, the Mr. Indiana State University competition. This is a natural show. That year I won my first contest. I was my class champion and came in a close second in the overall. That summer I later went on to become 1999 Mr. Teenage Indiana. At that point a dream was born. I wanted to be the best bodybuilder I could.
Training for football and bodybuilding was hard but I made it work. I feel that the two combined made me a better athlete for both sports.
Once I signed a NIFL football contract with the Fort Wayne Freedom bodybuilding took a back seat. While I didn’t compete during this time, I still trained as if I were.
As football ended I tried my hand at MMA to continue to feed my competitive edge. It wasn’t until I moved to Austin, Texas that I fully decided to compete in bodybuilding. So while training a client I was challenged to try my hand at it again. So I did. I set my sights on the Musclemania Fort Worth competition. This show was a professional qualifier. With hard work and a new found focus I competed August 29, 2009 and not only won the Novice, but I won the open heavy weight class and the overall to earn my Pro Card.
I am currently training hard for my professional debut and plan to win the next competition I enter.
